Overview
The goal at Lady Andal Open school is to provide a holistic environment through therapy integration, co-curricular activities, home management and family support. Over the decades, this therapy integrated, approach has helped almost 700 children with various special needs, across the Madras Seva Sadan mainstream education institutions and therefore has been adapted to our Lady Andal Open School, as well.
The Physical Therapy center helps improve mobility, strength and function, enhancing overall physical ability and makes children physically more independent. This also addresses an important aspect in children - namely play and uses play as a means to achieve mobility goals.
The Occupational Therapy center develops skills for daily living – such as self-care, basic life skills, productivity and leisure activities – allowing children to participate in meaningful, day-to-day activities in their life – and better integrated with society at large.
The Speech Therapy center enhances communication skills, addresses speech, language and hearing challenges and promotes expression and understanding. This is taught by specialized speech therapists using the latest in Speech therapy methods.
The Vocational Training programs at Lady Andal Open School range from 6 months to 2.5 years, across 5 disciplines. The Vocational training center aims at creating & enhancing employability skills for children that is based on building on the children’s strengths, while helping them cope with their limitations.
