MARG assessment

Every program starts with the 360 Degree, Assessment – MARG

Our comprehensive pre-admission assessments evaluate a child’s development across all areas, including academic skills, physical, cognitive, sensory, speech and communication. The assessment provides a complete understanding of the child’s strengths and areas of support before the child is on-board. Insights from the evaluation help in designing individualized learning plans tailored to each child’s needs. This ensures every child receives the guidance and resources required to thrive in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Ages 3–6

Early Intervention Programs

The next step is the Early Intervention phase that includes therapy interventions, play-based learning and activity-based approaches to support children, who are experiencing developmental delays or other learning disabilities.

Babies Clinic: The Babies clinic provides early developmental support and parental guidance for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old, helping them develop skills in play, communication, movement, sensory processing, feeding, and other daily living activities.

Kindergarten or Pre-Primary Program: Focusses on play-based, therapy-supported learning to develop speech, social interaction, motor skills, sensory regulation, and pre-academic readiness.

Primary Programs (Literacy Program)

After the age of 6, till the age of 11, students are enrolled for the primary academic or literacy training stream, which is based on the Government of Tamil Nadu’s State Board syllabus (Samacheer Kalvi). This is common for all students and based on the cut-off marks, then can then chose various options, post completion of the Class V equivalent.

Based on their academic inclinations & abilities, students can then pursue higher education programs offered by Lady Andal Open School.

Middle, Secondary & Senior Secondary Programs

Students interested in the academics can then enroll in the Middle school program, the syllabus of which is based on the Government of India’s National Institute of Open Schooling initiative.

From there, the students can complete their Secondary and Senior Secondary Education in various subjects that are recognized by the Government of India’s, NIOS Program. This allows students with special needs to complete their basic education with a degree that is internationally recognized. The senior secondary course offers 17 subjects to specialize in, based on the interests of the learner.

Student can, at anytime during their academic pursuits, switch to any of the 5 functional/ vocational programs that are offered in the Lady Andal Open School. Alternatively, they can move to the mainstream schools (Lady Andal School or Sir Mutha School) and complete their education there.

This flexibility is a hallmark of the Madras Seva Sadan institutions, allows learners to pursue multiple paths, based on their goals.

Functional Academics

In Functional academics, students are taught basic life skills that they need to navigate daily challenges they face in their immediate environment. This includes skills such as functional reading, writing, arithmetic, activities of daily living (ADL) and actively participating in community living. This program teaches independence by developing practical problem-solving skills, ensuring that students can navigate society with relative ease.

Pre-Vocational focus is to prepare students to step into Vocational streams and enhance their ancillary skills required for specific vocations or careers they might take up later.

Vocational Programs

Post their primary education, children also have the option to choose Vocational Training, where teenagers and young adults get hands-on training, in employment-ready skills. The course is split into a pre-vocational and vocational training based on the learner’s interest and inclination.
